The story of Arcas:

The child born of Zeus' union with Callisto, disguised as Artemis, was named Arcas. Zeus' wife, Hera, turned Callisto into a bear in anger out of jealousy. And Zeus hid Arcas so that nothing would happen to him. Arcas lived in safety in Arkadia until the day of one of the palace feasts organized by king Lycaon. At the palace feast, Arcas was placed on the burning altar as a sacrifice to the gods. Lycaon said to Zeus, "If you think you are so clever, make your son sound and unharmed." Zeus was enraged and saved Arcas. He then directed his anger at Lykaon, turning him into the first werewolf.

Thus Arcas became the new king of Arcadia and the country's greatest hunter. One day, Arcas was hunting in the woods and ran into his mother. Seeing her son after a long time, his mother turned towards him to embrace him. Arcas, not knowing that the bear was his mother, was directed to kill him with an arrow. Zeus turns Arcas into a bear, preventing Arkas from shooting Callisto. Then he places them in the stars. Henceforth, they were called Big Dipper and Little Dipper.
